92 points Wine Enthusiast, February 2017 issue. The Russell Family Vineyards are located in Paso Robles, 15 miles on the west side of highway 101,benefiting from the tempering effects of the Pacific ocean. This area of limited water, shallow, rugged, rocky, calcareous soil produces some of the finest wines in California.Extensively low yeilds due to dryer conditions for the 2014 harvest resulted in super acidity and a wine with great agibility. The small and delicate berries were packed with complex flavors. A high ratio of skin over juice contact resulted in a wine that is deep in color with great structure.
Enjoy the complex yet subtle touches of very luscious dark berry, nutmeg, mocha, roasted coffee beans and dark chocolate.
